They said, be tough, be strong
Make yourself into something,
Something fierce, something brave.
You need an edge, you have to compete.
I believed them.
I built myself up, I was ferocious.
And they loved it. It fit their idea.
Their idea of the world, the kind of strength they wanted to see.
Powerful. Indestructible. Unbreakable. Invulnerable.
Someone who could not be hurt, or injured.
Unreachable.
I slayed that wolf.
I am a human being. A feminine human being.
